Charlotte Knowles

Founder and Executive Producer

Charlotte Knowles is an award-winning producer and executive dedicated to powerful stories told through wit and irony. With over a decade of experience across film, television, and immersive media, her work has screened on the BBC, ITN, Arte, and at major festivals including Cannes Marché du Film, DOC NYC, HotDocs. Her credits include the BAFTA Scotland and BIFA-nominated Rebel Dykes, The Medallion (winner at Clermont-Ferrand), and Palestine Comedy Club, which will launch its international festival run in 2025. 

In addition to founding Tough Crowd, Charlotte also co-founded Story Compound, delivering BFI-backed talent development for emerging screenwriters. Charlotte’s award-winning term as CEO of the Independent Film Trust was featured in UK and US press outlets. During this time, she commissioned multiple successful film and immersive media projects and led partnerships with the BBC, BFI and Sony Pictures.

A TedX speaker and guest lecturer at University of the Arts London, Charlotte is also the creator of CreativeHQ, a business accelerator for media entrepreneurs. The CreativeHQ fund provides producers with investment to help grow successful and sustainable production companies.
